A Love Story That Began in Argentina
S + J first met in Buenos Aires while pursuing their Master's degrees. As part of their studies in real estate finance, their program included international travel and coursework abroad.
What began as a chance meeting on the first day of the program eventually became a relationship built on curiosity, adventure, and a shared love of exploring the world together.
Travel has become one of the defining parts of their relationship. Together, they've visited 29 countries, from cruises through Antarctica and along the Nile to hiking adventures in Guatemala and Rwanda. They bond over experiencing new cultures, trying new foods, and embracing the unexpected.
That spirit of adventure found its way into nearly every aspect of their wedding day.
How they got engaged
“We got engaged during a trip to Lima. J was born there, and we visited it together (mostly to eat at all of the incredible restaurants) in 2022. Before the proposal, we arrived at our hotel early so they offered to store our bags while we ate breakfast. Little did I know the ring was in his suitcase, which spent time in storage as he sweated bullets upstairs (and I blissfully drank coffee).”
Portraits Around Beacon
One of the advantages of a The Roundhouse wedding is the variety of portrait locations available without ever leaving the property.
From the dramatic industrial architecture to the creek, waterfalls, and surrounding greenery, there are endless opportunities for creating images that feel both elegant and natural.
As the day unfolded, we took time to explore some of the property's most beautiful corners together.
I always encourage couples to carve out space during the wedding day to simply be together, away from the timeline and celebration for a few moments.
Those quiet pockets of time often become some of the most meaningful memories.
After their portraits with their dog Loki, and adventuring around Beacon, NY - we headed to the outdoor ceremony space at The Roundhouse to meet up with their wedding party.
Why They Chose The Roundhouse
When it came time to choose a venue, location and guest experience were top priorities.
They wanted somewhere close enough to New York City and public transportation to make travel easy for guests, but far enough away to feel like a true getaway weekend.
The Roundhouse wedding venue checked every box.
Nestled beside Fishkill Creek in the heart of Beacon, The Roundhouse offers a unique combination of industrial architecture, soaring ceilings, dramatic windows, and stunning Hudson Valley scenery. One of the things I love most about photographing weddings here is how beautifully it works in every season and every type of weather.
For S + J, that flexibility was especially important.
"We were focused on finding a venue that had both indoor and outdoor space, but whose indoor space we would be equally happy with in the case of inclement weather."
The Roundhouse's bright, airy event space and seamless connection to the surrounding landscape gave them exactly that.
A Beautiful Ceremony at The Roundhouse
With the warmth of summer and the Hudson Valley landscape surrounding them, S + J exchanged vows surrounded by their closest family and friends.
One thing they knew from the start was that if they were going to host a larger wedding, they wanted it to include everyone who had played an important role throughout their lives.
"We decided to go for the big wedding so we could celebrate with everyone who had been important to us in different stages of our life."
Standing in front of all those people who had traveled near and far to be there, that decision felt incredibly worthwhile.
The ceremony was heartfelt, emotional, and joyful - the perfect beginning to the next chapter of their story.
A Summer Wedding Filled With Classic Romance
The couple envisioned a day that felt timeless, elegant, and welcoming.
Their color palette of whites and greens perfectly complemented the venue's architecture while creating a classic romantic atmosphere throughout the celebration.
As guests arrived, they were immediately welcomed into a wedding experience that reflected who S + J are as a couple.
Rather than traditional escort cards, each guest received a personalized monogrammed luggage tag that doubled as both a wedding favor and seating assignment.
Every reception table was named after a country the couple had traveled to together, accompanied by stories from their adventures around the world.
It was one of my favorite design details of the day because it felt so personal.
The logistics behind those details were no small feat.
JP transformed their home into what they jokingly described as a "mini woodshop" while building the enormous escort card displays used to showcase the luggage tags.
"It was definitely a last-minute adventure getting the boards to the venue from our home," they shared. "Luckily we had friends who volunteered immediately to help."
· What was the color palette and why was it chosen? They chose whites and greens for their color palette for a classic, romantic feel.
A Reception Full of Joy and Celebration
As guests entered the reception space, the room glowed with candlelight, greenery, and the energy of everyone gathered together.
One of the moments S + J looked forward to most was their choreographed first dance.
Like many couples, they were nervous beforehand.
But once they stepped onto the dance floor, all that preparation paid off.
"The day truly did go by so quickly, but we had a choreographed first dance we were both really nervous about, and it ended up being some of our best photos, and something we felt like we really accomplished together."
Watching them move across the dance floor together felt like a reflection of their entire relationship - partnership, trust, and a willingness to embrace the adventure together.
The rest of the evening unfolded with incredible food, laughter, dancing, and the kind of joyful celebration that happens when people from all different chapters of life come together in one room.
After their cake cutting, S had an outfit and shoe change into a relaxed shimmering dress and sneakers - where she could dance and move more freely.
Advice for Couples Planning Their Wedding
One of my favorite pieces of advice from S + J is surprisingly practical.
"Practice the ceremony, even if you think it's so simple and everyone has been in a wedding before."
They then shared the story of a small hiccup involving the best man not knowing he was supposed to have the rings during their ceremony.
Fortunately everything worked out perfectly, but it's a reminder that even the smallest details deserve a little preparation.
They also emphasized the importance of choosing vendors you trust and allowing those professionals to do what they do best.
As someone who had the privilege of documenting their wedding day, I couldn't agree more.
A Summer Wedding to Remember
From a love story that began in Argentina to a proposal in Lima and a wedding celebration inspired by adventures around the world, every part of S + J's day reflected who they are as a couple.
Their The Roundhouse wedding was sophisticated and romantic, but more importantly, it was deeply personal.
It was a celebration of travel, friendship, family, and the incredible journey they've built together.
And it was an absolute joy to document.
Although their wedding ceremony took place inside, their cocktail hour was a super sophisticated martini-filled soiree outdoors where nature and the industrial aesthetic of The Roundhouse creates a whole vibe.
S+J’s Favorite Memories from their day
“The day truly did go by so quickly - but we had a choreographed first dance we were both really nervous about, and it ended up being some of our best photos, and something we felt like we really accomplished together.”
Working with me as their photographer
“We were given a list of recommended vendors from the venue, which included a long list of photographers. After thoroughly reviewing each of their portfolios, we loved your style of both candid, but elegant, romantic, and poised as well. I actually think I ended up in your spam or there was an issue with email at the time, and I originally didn’t hear back for a week or two. I interviewed the remainder of our top five list, but couldn’t get over really wanting to work with you, so I did something wildly outside of my personality and reached out one final time - I’m so glad I did because it turned out to be a larger glitch, and you hadn’t received my original message!”
My website inquiry for was down for over a week without my knowledge, and I am still SO thankful S went out of her comfort zone and reached out again!
“It was also so easy to work with you - I remember being really nervous about never having been photographed, and we just trusted your process. I was not a relaxed bride - I think I gave you a timeline of our dance – and you were so easy going and receptive to my level of detail, which made me feel so comfortable.”
This made me laugh out loud. S was EXTREMELY organized and detail oriented. I loved her attention to detail and communication with me about important moments. They had worked really hard on their first dance (which was executed BEAUTIFULLY).
