October Micro Wedding at Lambs Hill - Katerina & Guillermo

Katerina + Guillermo are college sweethearts who were married on a beautifully sunny October day at Lambs Hill. There’s a quiet magic that lives at Lambs Hill - a mountainside micro wedding venue perched above Beacon with sweeping views of the Hudson River and rolling hills. When I think of this place, I remember the way the soft October breeze brushed through the trees, the gentle warmth of the sun as it dipped toward sunset, and the calm presence that defined Katerina and Guillermo’s wedding day.

As a Hudson Valley wedding photographer, I’ve photographed large celebrations and quiet elopements alike, but there’s something especially profound about intimate weddings where every guest feels woven into the story. This was one of those days - small in size but rich with connection, gratitude, and love.

Morning Stillness: A Calm Start

Their October wedding morning began in the Lambs Hill Equestrian Suite - the soft light of autumn filtering through expansive windows, a fresh breeze carrying the scent of changing leaves, and an easy, unhurried rhythm that set the tone for the entire day.

For Katerina, this time was one of her favorite moments: breakfast made by her mom, cold brew in hand, and those relaxed hours of preparation with her nearest and dearest. Guillermo drifted by, peeking in to check on her with a quiet smile - those small, human moments that become treasured memories.

When planning a wedding, so often the big moments get all the attention, but it’s these soft, unguarded pieces of the day - the laughter during getting ready, the calm energy before the ceremony - that I love to capture most.

A College Love Story That Blossomed Over Time

Katerina and Guillermo’s story began in college, though their first “date” didn’t feel like one at the time. After years of friendship - movies, concerts, and nights out - it was the long conversations that lasted past plans that revealed how deeply they connected. Those moments, real and unforced, laid the foundation for a relationship that would grow steadily and meaningfully.

Life unfolded - law school, the beginnings of careers, and shared phases that shaped them not just as individuals, but as a couple. When they both felt grounded in their personal and professional lives, the idea of marriage began to feel natural and essential.

Their engagement in Acadia National Park was playful and heartfelt. A plan involving a fake ring at the top of a mountain quickly transformed into a genuine moment of love - all witnessed by rocky summits and the Atlantic breeze. With photos taken at the top, calls to family, and a celebratory dinner to follow, the engagement became a vivid memory that would echo into their wedding day.

How you met: “We met in college but didn’t start dating until right after we graduated. Guillermo helped me move out of my dorm room and then we got dinner together at Coffee Shop in Union Square (which has since closed). That was our first “date” even though we didn’t realize it at the time. We started spending more time together as friends - going to the movies, concerts. Etc. One night we decided to go bowling but there was a long wait. We put our names on the list and went to a bar to wait. It was one of those nights where we couldn’t stop talking and we completely forgot about the bowling.”

When you realize you wanted to get married: “We met at the end of college, so marriage was not on our minds at first (although I did save the flower petals from the first flowers that Guillermo ever got me). After I finished law school and we both had a few years of work under our belt, it seemed like a good time. We went through a lot of different phases of life together and both felt that we had reached a point where we were comfortable in our professional lives and that we could focus more time on ourselves and our relationship and planning a wedding.”

How you got engaged: “We went on a trip to Maine with our friends, Mariam and Paul. We hiked to the top of Gorham Mountain in Acadia National Park and Guillermo proposed there. His initial plan was to use a fake ring and pretend to drop it off the mountain. Somehow my brother approved of this plan. Guillermo placed the fake ring/box on a stack of rocks. I was extremely confused, so he abandoned this plan and pulled out the real ring and got down on one knee. After I got over the initial shock/confusion, we took pictures at the top of the mountain, called our family and friends and then got dinner. My friend Mariam got us a ring box for our wedding that had a mountain and our wedding date carved on the front.”

Style That Felt Like Them - Choosing wedding attire was deeply personal for both of them.

How did Guillermo choose his velvet tux wedding look?

“Guillermo is a big fan of Suit Supply. He gets a lot of his clothes from there and recommends it to all his friends. He also recommended it to my dad who got his tux there as well. They have a whole package with the tux, bow tie, suspenders, shoes, cuff links, which is so convenient!”

How did you choose your wedding dress?

“I went to a few different dress stores - with my mom, my brother and with groups of friends, but I actually ended up choosing my dress when I went by myself to Designer Loft. I tried on a lot of dresses and almost chose a different dress from the one I ended up wearing on the wedding day. When I went to go buy that other dress, it didn’t feel 100% right, and I asked to try on one more. The last dress that I tried was completely different from all of the other dresses, which had lace, beads, sequins, etc. When I tried on this last dress, which was clean and simple, I immediately knew it was the one and ordered it right away. I showed it to my family and friends later and they all agreed it was the perfect choice.
This kind of quiet certainty is exactly what an intimate Hudson Valley wedding calls for.”

Choosing an Intimate Wedding

Katerina and Guillermo knew from the start they wanted something small, intentional, and deeply personal. With extended family living abroad, an intimate guest list of close family and cherished friends allowed them to spend real time with every person who traveled for their day. For a couple who values presence over presentation, this was exactly the right size.

And Lambs Hill - serene, scenic, and thoughtfully designed - felt perfectly suited for a celebration rooted in connection and experience.

How you decided to have a small wedding: “Our extended families don’t live in the United States and it would be difficult for them to travel here, so we knew it would mostly be our immediate families and a couple of aunts and uncles. We also both have small groups of very close friends, so a small wedding was perfect for us. It was exactly the right size and we got to spend time with every single person.”

Cocktail Hour with rustic ambiance and panoramic views

Lambs Hill features a modern covered cocktail hour deck with Sweeping views of the Hudson River and Mount Beacon with plenty of unique seating options.

Thoughtful Vendors, Seamless Wedding Day

Katerina and Guillermo chose vendors directly from Lambs Hill’s recommended list - a curated group of trusted professionals who understand how weddings unfold at this venue. Without a planner, this list became their guidebook, and every vendor they chose contributed to the calm, connected flow of the day. From florals to makeup, music to food, the team worked in harmony, leaving nothing to chance and everything to be enjoyed.

They also added a content creator at the last minute to capture behind-the-scenes, candid videos - a decision they loved. It wasn’t a full wedding film, but these short, atmospheric clips now act as a living memory of the energy of the day - the laughter, the quiet exchanges, the way the light shifted as the sun dipped lower.

Why you chose certain vendors: “We chose vendors from the Lambs Hill list of vendors. There are so many options out there and we appreciated having a list of pre-approved vetted vendors. Everyone was absolutely perfect. The photos are stunning. We still can’t believe they are real. The venue, flowers, the makeup, live music, DJ, food, ceremony - there isn’t a single thing we would change. We didn’t have a wedding planner and all of the vendors were so helpful with guiding us through the planning process!”

I can attest to the fact that the Lambs Hill vendor list is second to none. They are very particular on who they allow to work there, and this creates an almost fail-proof scenario for the couples who choose to get married there. Simplicity in Mind florals always takes my breath away with her designs, Bridal by Alexandria always delivers for the wedding day glam, Lisa Zaro’s wedding ceremonies always make me feel like an old friend to the couple, A Perfect Blend makes a party happen even for a micro wedding, and Main Course Catering (shout out to Emily) creates a seamless and delicious masterpiece every time - from cocktail hour, dinner, cocktails, and cake - it’s all magic.

Rustic-chic reception barn

Lambs Hill’s reception barn features warm wood tones, soft light, and natural textures. The perfect place for guests to enjoy their dinner and dance the night away with a view of the Hudson River the entire time.

Katerina’s favorite memories: “For me, I loved the getting ready part of the day. It was very calm. The weather was beautiful, there was a nice fresh breeze and we had the most gorgeous view from the Lambs Hill suite. My mom made the girls breakfast and we had some cold brew. It was just the perfect relaxing morning. I also liked that Guillermo was there peeking in occasionally.”

Guillermo’s favorite memories: “For Guillermo, it was the beautiful sunset, which felt like a dream, the food (we shared all three entree options and ate all of them), and having our closest friends and family members there together.”

Ceremony & Sunset: Moments That Last

The ceremony at Lambs Hill was intimate, emotional, and tender - a reflection of the life they’ve built together. With the view stretching out behind them and the warmth of autumn light softening every edge, vows felt deeply personal. It was the kind of moment that photographers dream of capturing: authentic, heartfelt, and beautifully simple.

Their Intimate Wedding Captured in Black and White

Below are black and white photographs capturing the timeless beauty and sophistication of Katerina + Guillermo’s intimate wedding day. There’s something profoundly timeless about black and white imagery, especially on a day as intimate and emotionally rich as this one. Without the presence of color, the photographs lean fully into feeling - into touch, expression, contrast, and connection.

The Beauty of Black & White Film

Alongside digital images, I photographed parts of Katerina and Guillermo’s wedding day on black and white film - intentionally welcoming its softness, grain, and occasional light leaks. The light leaks that appeared in some of their film frames felt almost symbolic: subtle, imperfect, and beautiful, like memory itself. These images don’t just show what happened - they hold the atmosphere of the day. Quiet, nostalgic, and deeply human.
